Kitty is known for his impressive performances in Kamal Haasan' s Soora Samhaaram & Sathya, Rajinikanth' s Baashha and Mani Ratnam' s Bombay.



Apart from acting, he is the director HRD of Talent Maximus India ltd. He wrote a book called Rajini Punchtantra: Business and Life management.

Even when some of the intelligentsia predicted the beginning of a new era of parallel cinema, a major section of Malayalis were on the warpath saying that mainstream Malayalam cinema had degenerated to porn. But in spite of the criticism,Rathinirvedam became one of the biggest box office hits in Kerala's history. After being trained since the age of five under Kalamandalam Natarajan, Rajaram (a student of Vazhuvoor Ramaiah Pillai) and Vazhuvoor Samraj Pillai, Jayabharathi entered films as a teenager. Life revolved around film studios, dance rehearsals and stage performances. The actress is busy these days with her dance school, Aswathi Arts Academy, which she runs from home. She is also starting another one in Coimbatore. In 2003, Jayabharathi performed in nine temples in and around Kerala.

Personal life

She is born as Lakshmi Bharathi, to Malayali parents Shivasankaran Nair and Sarada.  Since her father was a railway employee they lived at railway quarters at Erode. She had her primary education from St.Rita Girls, Railway Colony School, Erode, Tamil Nadu.  Malayalam actor Jayan was her first cousin.

She was married to producer Hari Pothan in 1973 and divorced in 1974. She got married then to actor Sathaar in 1979 with whom she has a son Krish J. Sathaar born in 1984. Sathaar later divorced Jayabharathi in 1987.

Kothanda Ramaiah (also known as KR) is an Indian film director, producer, distributor and exhibitor. He has held various leading positions in different film industry organizations.

KR studied film processing at the Adyar Film Institute in Chennai in 1972. Upon graduation in 1975, he spent three years as a technician in Doordarshan Kendra. Although the film failed at the box office, it provided him the incentive to move into film distribution and exhibition across Tamil Nadu covering territories including: Chennai City, North Arcot, South Arcot, Chengelpet, Pondicherry, and Tirupathi. He distributed successful films such as: Thillu Mullu, Thai Veedu, Vaidehi Kathirunthal, Sindhu Bhairavi, Punnagai Mannan, Chinna Poove Mella Pesu, Michael Madana Kama Rajan, Poovizhi Vasalile, Guru Sishyan, Mappillai, Rajadhi Raja, and My Dear Kuttichathan 3D in Tamil.

Since 1991, KR has directed and produced a series of medium budget films. His directorial debut in Tamil Eeramana Rojave featured new actors and was a commercial success. His most notable collaborations are with actors Vijayakanth, Ramki, Kushboo, and with Urvashi on several occasions. In total he has directed fourteen feature films. His film Dancer, released in 2005, most notable for its protagonist who was a one legged dancer played by Kutty, a highly talented and differently abled artist, won the National Award, three State Awards, and an award at the prestigious Canadian film festival. The film also had a special screening at the London Disability Arts Forum.

His involvement in film production includes producing and financing over forty films in various Indian Languages. While he was involved in film distribution he was also an exhibitor with twenty-eight theatres leased across: Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, and Tirupathi; he also ran the Sathyam Cinemas in Chennai from 1984 to 1993.

He has played a role in some of the landmarks of Tamil cinema including: India's First ever 3D My Dear Kuttichathan in Tamil and Telugu; Pesum Padam a movie without dialogue starring Kamalhassan; Maaveeran starring Rajinikanth; the first 70mm Tamil Film, Engalayum Vazha Vidungal a film which was notable for animals talking on screen; Spy Kids 3D using Anaglyph technology for the first time; and Jai Vedalam the first film to be released in 3D in four languages.

He was elected president of the Tamil Film Producers' Council (TFPC) in 2013 and has worked on issues including title registration, financially supporting bankrupt producers, and helping see through the release of delayed projects.Other initiatives include streamlining and reducing the cost of publicity and having actors participate in all promotional activities for their films.
KR has also written a book Idhuthaan Cinema (This is Cinema) in Tamil published in 2003. It details the nuances of cinema and predicts its future viewed from today. He has been an authority on cinema since the early 1980's giving the industry insights and a way forward for the years ahead.
KR worked at Raadaan Mediaworks as vice president and is currently one of the directors at Global United Media.

His next movie was Moorkhan which was followed by Raktham. Following this, Joshi directed many films including Kaahalam,Sharam, Karthavyam, Dheera and Arambham. In the year 1983, Aa Rathri, got released for which Joshi joined with Mammootty for the first time, and they continued to work together for the next two decades.

Following Kodumkattu, came out and a series of films including Bhookambam, Kodathi, Alakadalinakkare, Muhurtham 11.30, Minimol Vathicanil. In the year 1985, Joshiy directed Nirakkoottu, based on the script by debutant Dennis Joseph. Joshi-Mammootty-Dennis Joseph continued working together with Nyayavidhi, Shyama, and Veendum. He made his debut in Hindi films in 1984 and achieved national fame when he directed Dharm Aur Qanoon starring Rajesh Khanna in a double role along with Dharmendra. It had box office collection of 6.5 crores in 1984 and went on to become a hit at the Indian boxoffice.

The films Veendum, Nyayavidhi, Aayiram Kannukal, Sayamsandhya, Ksamichu Ennoru Vaakku followed. January Oru Orma with Mohanlal was released in 1987. In the same year, Joshi joined with Mammootty for New Delhi. In the year 1988, Joshiy directed three films, all scripted by Dennis Joseph and Mammootty in the lead role. Dhinarathrangal, Sangham and Thanthram. 

In the year 1989, Joshiy once again teamed with Mohanlal for Naduvazhikal. In the same year, Joshiy brought out a military film. Nair Saab, completely shot in Kashmir, with Mammootty in the title role. Mahayanam, his third film of the year won state award for best actor for Mammootty. No.20 Madras Mail was released in 1990 with Mohanlal in title role was followed by the investigation thriller Ee Thanutha Veluppan Kalathu. Kuttettan was his third film of that year. 

Joshiy's next film was Kauravar in 1992, again with Mammootty in lead role. Joshiy in 1992, tried his hand in Tamil cinema, with Airport. In the year 1993, Dhruvam got released, followed by Sainyam in 1994. His debut into Telugu cinema was in the year 1994 through Angarakshugudu, starring Rajashekhar and Meena Durairaj in leading roles. In the year 1997 Joshiy brought out Bhoopathi.

Joshi joined with Renji Panicker for Lelam and Pathram in 1999. In middle, Joshiy did Vazhunnor. Joshiy's next two films were Praja and Dubai in 2001 which bombed at the box office. Joshiy took a break after these flops. In the year 2004, Joshi made a comeback with Runway, this time Dileep in the leading role, it was the second highest grosser of the year (2004), was followed by Maambazhakkaalam.

Naran released in 2005 starring Mohanlal was followed by Lion in 2006. His next films included Pothan Vava (2006) and July 4 (2007) followed by Nasrani (2007), next film, Janmam (2007). 

In 2008 he directed Twenty:20 bringing together many stars. It was followed by Robinhood in 2009. Christian Brothers released in 2011, a multi-star film with Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, Sarath Kumar and Dileep in leading roles. In 2012 he directed Run Baby Run with Mohanlal in lead. It was followed by Lokpal in 2013. Salaam Kashmier 2014 with jayaram in lead.
