Rathi (born 23 September 1982) is an Indian film actress, who appears mostly in Tamil cinema and Telugu cinema. She made her feature film debut in Suki S. Murthy's 2002 Tamil film Gummalam. Later, she went on to do critically acclaimed performances in Solla Marandha Kadhai (2002). She had also dubbed for actress Genelia for the 2003 Tamil movie Boys.

Rathi was born in Bangalore, Karnataka to Tamil people Arumugam and Bharani. She has two siblings, one elder sister and one younger brother. She was a student of dentistry at the Mathrushri Ramabai Ambedkar Dental College and Hospital in Bangalore.She is a trained classical dancer and had her Arangetram.

She made her acting debut in the 2002 Tamil film Gummalam. She starred opposite Cheran in Thangar Bachan's Solla Marandha Kadhai. She appeared in a couple more Tamil films, including Adi Thadi starring Sathyaraj, but none of them were commercially successful. She had also performed an item number in the Tamil film Anjaneya featuring Ajith Kumar in the lead role.She then migrated to Telugu cinema and acted in six films.

Bhaskar,popularly known as Bommarillu Bhaskar is a Telugu and Tamil film director. In his early career, he worked as associate director on films Bhadra and Arya. His directorial debut Bommarillu starring Siddarth Narayan and Genelia D'souza was a blockbuster,which earned him two Nandi Awards,for best debut director and best original screenplay.His next venture, Parugu starring Allu Arjun was a box office hit.Orange starring Ram Charan was his next film,which gained some mixed response.He made his fourth film Ongole Githa a revange drama which was a box office and critical failure. His latest Tamil film Bangalore Naatkal starring Arya, Rana Daggubati, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Sri Divya, Bobby Simha is about to hit theatres in 2016.

He was a student of the Film and Television Institute of Tamil Nadu, Chennai and he is born in Vellore, Tamil Nadu.

Shobha was a South Indian film actress.  She started her career as a child artist in the Tamil film Thattungal Thirakkappadum. Her first film as a heroine was Utrada Raatri. Shobha's real name was Mahalakshmi. She won the National Film Award for Best Actress for her role in the Tamil film Pasi at the age of 17.

Early life

Shoba was born on 23 September 1962 to K. P. Menon and Prema Menon.  Her mother was one of the leading actresses in Malayalam cinema in the 1950s.

Career

In 1966, Shoba made her screen debut in Tamil Thriller film Thattungal Thirakkappadum directed by actor J. P. Chandrababu. In the film she was credited as Baby Mahalakshmi where she played the role of Lakshmi opposite actress Savitri, K. R. Vijaya, R. S. Manohar and Chandrababu himself.  The following year she made her debut in Malayalam cinema through Udhyogastha by P. Venu where she was named as Baby Shoba. Touted as the first "multi-starrer", with five top actors, in Malayalam cinema, the film had Sathyan, Prem Nazir, K. P. Ummer, Padmini, Sharada, Sheela and Rajasree in the lead along with Shobha.  The film was a big hit and gained Shoba recognition as a child actor in South Indian cinema.

In 1978 she was cast as a heroine in Uthradarathri, a film directed by Balachandra Menon. She received the Kerala government's Best Actress award for the 1978 films Bandhanam and Ente Neelakasam. The same year she earned the Best Actress award by Filmfare for the Kannada-language film Aparichita. In 1979 she was recipient of the National Award for Best Actress for the Tamil film Pasi, which was produced by Lalitha, the eldest of the Travancore sisters. She also received the Filmfare Best Actress award for Pasi and received the Second Best Actress award from the Kerala government in 1977 for the film Ormakal Marikkumo.

Death

Shobha committed suicide at the age of 17.  She was married to Balu Mahendra. In an interview to Anu Haasan in Koffee with Anu, Balu Mahendra has said that the tragedy of how Shoba was suddenly snatched away from his life by destiny, as quickly as she came, formed the plot for his next movie Moondram Pirai. The 1983 Malayalam film Lekhayude Maranam Oru Flashback directed by K. G. George is loosely based on her life and death.

T. V. Chandran ( born 23 November 1950) is an Indian film director, screenwriter, and actor, predominantly working in Malayalam cinema. Born in a Malayali Hindu family in Thalassery, Chandran worked as a Reserve Bank of India employee before entering into the film industry.

He started his film career as an assistant director to P. A. Backer and John Abraham. He also acted the lead role in Backer's highly acclaimed political drama Kabani Nadi Chuvannappol (1975). He made his directorial debut with the unreleased feature Krishnan Kutty (1981), and followed this with the Tamil film Hemavin Kadhalargal (1985).

Chandran came into prominence after Alicinte Anveshanam (1989), which was nominated for the Golden Leopard at the Locarno International Film Festival. This was followed with Ponthan Mada (1993), his most famous film to-date. Chandran is most known for his art-house films which have references to history and undertones of politics and feminism. He is also known for his trilogy on 2002 Gujarat riots, consisting of Kathavasheshan (2004), Vilapangalkappuram (2008) and Bhoomiyude Avakashikal (2012). Other highly acclaimed films include Mangamma (1997), Dany (2001) and Paadam Onnu: Oru Vilapam (2003).

Chandran is widely regarded as one of the finest directors in Indian cinema and is widely credited with having revolutionised parallel cinema with his complex-structured art-house films. Chandran has won several film awards including six National Film Awards and ten Kerala State Film Awards. In addition to these, he is a recipient of a number of awards at various International film festivals.

T. V. Chandran was born in Thalassery, Malabar District, Madras Presidency, the present day Kannur District, Kerala, to Narayanan Nambiar and Karthyayini Amma. After graduating with a degree from Christ College, Irinjalakuda,and a post graduation from Farook College, University of Calicut, he embarked on a career as a Reserve Bank of India employee before starting his film career. In his college days, Chandran was sympathetic to naxalite ideology and was closely associated with the Communist Party.

Chandran's son Yadavan Chandran and brother Soman are also filmmakers. Yadavan has directed docu-films and has assisted Chandran in many of his films. Soman is working an assistant with Chandran right from his first film. Chandran's attachment with his other brother, who died in Nigeria in the 1980s, later inspired the film Sankaranum Mohananum.
