Rani Chandra (born in Kochi, Kerala) was a Malayalam film actress and winner of the Miss Kerala Title.She died in a plane crash in 1976. She acted in several landmark films such as Nellu (Malayalam, 1974), Bhadrakali (Tamil, 1976) and Swapnadanam (Malayalam, 1976).

She was born to Chandran and Kanthimathi in 1949 at Fort Kochi, Travancore-Cochin (now Kerala). She had four sisters and a brother. She pursued degree from St Thereses College Ernakulam. She owned a dance troupe. She was selected as Miss Kerala in 1972.

Her first film, Anjusundarikal, was widely accepted by the audience. Other major films included Ulsavam, Kadarumasam, Nellu, Swapnadanam, Oonjal, Alinganam, Abhinandanam, Sindoooram, Thirumadhuram, and Anuragam.

She won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress for the film Swapnadanam. Rani Chandra played the major role in the very popular Tamil cinema song "Kannan Oru Kaikuzhanthai" on YouTube in the film Bhadrakali.

Rani Chandra, her mother, and three sisters were killed in Indian Airlines Flight 171 crash in 1976. They were on a return flight from Bombay when their plane caught fire and nose dived near the airport, killing everyone on board.

They were returning from a Dance performance in the Middle East. Ironically, their earlier flight from Bombay to Madras returned to Bombay shortly after take off after a snag hit. The aircraft and all passengers were re-boarded onto the flight. The dead included members of her music troupe as well.

After her death, the unfinished portion of the movie Bhadrakali was finished using a double. The movie ends using earlier footage of Rani Chandra.

Rafi-Mecartin are a Screenwriter and director duo best known for their comedy films in Malayalam cinema. Rafi and Mecartin have been working together since the initial days of their career. Rafi's younger brother Shafi is also a well-known director.

Alphonse Puthren is an Indian film director, editor, writer, and commercial ad maker. He made his directional debut with the Tamil-Malayalam bilingual feature film Neram (2013). His second film was the blockbuster coming-of-age romantic film Premam (2015).

Alphonse Puthren was born in Aluva, Kerala to Daisy Chacko and Puthren Paul. He attended schools including Mount Tabor School Kalamassery, Lena School Lovedale, Lawrence School Lovedale, Rajagiri Public School Kalamassery, St. Aloysius High School Paravur and higher secondary from Amrita Vidyalayam. He did his Bachelors in Computer Applications (BCA) from MES College Marampally and later moved on to Chennai, earning a Diploma in Film making from S. A. E. College.

After graduating, Puthren started making short films and music videos. Arkan and Sutrum Vizhi were his earliest works, completed in college. In 2008, he made the short film Cling Cling. His next work was Neram, a short film which featured rajasekar playing a pivotal character. Alphonse later made the music video Flavours, the video of which was shot using stop motion technique. His next short film was The Angel, employing actors Vijay Sethupathi and Bobby Simha in lead roles. Putharen directed the Malayalam music video Dhaaham, with music by Rajesh Murugesan.

Putharen directed the music video Nenjodu Cherthu from the album Yuvvh, with music by Saachin-Sreejith. The video starring Nivin Pauly and Nazriya Nazim became "hugely popular". His next short film was Eli - a sexy tale which had Bobby Simha, Nivin Pauly and Rajeev Pillai as part of the cast and was produced by actor/director/singer Vineeth Sreenivasan.

Putharen made his entry into the field of advertising by directing the commercial for Bangs Fried Chicken, a fast food chain.

He made his debut in feature films in 2013 with Neram, the full-length feature film version of his short film. The film is bilingual in Tamil and Malayalam and starred Nivin Pauly, Nazriya Nazim and Bobby Simha in lead roles. He wrote the screenplay and also edited the film. He directed the film Premam in 2015 which starred Nivin Pauly, while also writing the screenplay, editing and acting in a cameo role in the film. The film went on to become a blockbuster at the box office and became one of the highest grossing Malayalam films of all time.

Kamala Kamesh is an Indian actress in Malayalam movies.She was one of the prominent supporting actress in late 1960s and 1970s in Malayalam movies. She has acted nearly 400 movies in Tamil.

She is married to Kamesh, a Tamil music director. Her only daughter Uma Riyaz Khan is an actress in Tamil movies. Malayalam-Tamil actor Riyaz Khan is her son-in-law.
